Collection Days

All items must be on the curb by 6 AM for pickup.

  • Garbage collection is picked up on Mondays and Thursdays
  • All yard waste is picked up on Tuesdays
  • Recycling is picked up on Wednesdays
  • Bulk Waste/Large items are picked up on Thursdays (see below for more details)

If your collection day falls on one of the below holidays, your collection service will be on your next scheduled pick-up day.

  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas

Garbage

Each container must be at the curbside by 6:00 AM and not exceed 50 pounds in weight, including the container when full. All garbage must be placed inside the container provided by FCC Environmental Services.  If you require an additional bin, please call FCC at (407) 232-9990. If any item is not acceptable as garbage, a tag with an explanation of why it was not picked up will be provided to the resident.


Recycling

All recycling will be collected curbside and shall be in the provided 18-gallon recycling bin by 6:00 AM each Wednesday for collection. If unacceptable items are in the recycling bin, FCC will submit a tag to the resident with an explanation of why the recycling was rejected. Acceptable items include all glass bottles and jars, aluminum, metal, and tin cans, plastic soda bottles, plastic milk and water jugs, and newspaper. The cardboard must be flattened. Never recycle plastic bags, plastic tubs, or garbage.


Bulk Waste/Large Item Pickup

Bulk Waste/Large Item Pickup is collected every Thursday without requiring prior scheduling. Any items placed curbside on Thursday are considered bulk waste. FCC Environmental Services will collect up to 3 cubic yards of material per household.

Acceptable Bulk Waste/Large Items:

  • Appliances (stoves, toilets)
    • Note: Refrigerators, window AC units, and appliances containing Freon must be taken to a landfill by the resident.
  • Furniture (indoor and outdoor)
  • Light Fixtures
  • Mattress/box spring sets
  • Televisions
  • Large children's toys
  • Bicycles, disassembled basketball hoops, swing sets (requires resident authorization or City of Edgewood representative authorization for disposal)
  • Ride-on toys
  • Recreational equipment
  • One-piece formed plastic pools (disassembled)
  • Strollers
  • Vacuum cleaners
  • Luggage
  • BBQ grills (propane tank removed)
  • Lawn mowers (gas removed)

Note: Larger items such as basketball hoops, gym equipment, and swing sets must be fully disassembled, and all concrete must be removed from any poles or posts.

Unacceptable Bulk Waste/Large Items:

  • Miscellaneous trash that fits in a garbage cart or overflow bag
  • Construction and remodeling debris (boards, cabinets, carpet, flooring, tile, sinks, fencing, outbuildings, decks, pallets, dog houses, brick, concrete, doors, windows, siding, shingles)
  • Gas engines
  • Car parts
  • Pianos and organs
  • Ping pong and pool tables
  • Hot tubs and hot tub covers
  • Pool pumps/filters
  • Pool covers and diving boards

Yard Waste Guidelines

For successful yard waste pickup, please follow the following: 

  • Yard waste, including bagged debris, is picked up on Tuesday's by your service provider.
  • The limit of material size for yard debris is that no piece should exceed 4-feet in length or 6-inches in diameter. and the total accumulation should not exceed two cubic yards.
  • Leaves, grass clippings, twigs, and small pieces of yard waste must be bagged, bundled, or placed in a garbage receptacle no larger than 32 gallons and 50 lbs. 
  • Branches, shrubs, and stumps (not over 3ft. in length or 50 lbs. in weight) should be stacked neatly parallel to the curb.

Reasons FCC Environmental may reject your yard waste: 

  • Mixed with garbage, recyclables, or large items
  • More than 3 feet from the curb
  • Exceeds 50 pounds per can, bag, or bundle
  • Not tied and bundled, bagged, or containerized.
  • Bundled tree and shrub clippings exceed 3 feet
  • In excess of 2 cubic yards limit (Call for additional collection – Charges may apply)
  • Unacceptable Materials: treated lumber, construction materials, etc.
